Peter O’Callaghan is following in the family tradition of horsemanship established by his father. Born and raised in Ireland, Peter began working with horses at his family’s farm. His father, Gay O’Callaghan, is well known in Europe as a leading consignor and horseman who has bred and raised many group stakes winners and champions, a tradition his son Peter is carrying on. Yeomanstown Stud, the O’Callaghan family farm, has connections to such notable Gr. I winners as BAD AS I WANNA BE, CAPRICCIOSA, DEFINITE ARTICLE, EARL OF BARKING, PIPALONG, VINNIE ROE, and numerous other Group performers. Peter learned the business of handling top two-year-olds in the yard of Aidan O’Brien, and then, when he moved to the United States, with top consignor and two-year-old conditioner Nick de Meric. He completed his horse education at Dromoland Farm in Kentucky, home of many great broodmares and racehorses. Then he founded his own farm, Woods Edge.
